A monthly letter from the desk of Sarah Fejfar

My favorite adventure this past month was a trip to the Oregon Coast. We love it there and typically go monthly. “The Coast never disappoints” is what we always say on the return. Some people may say “it’s cold there; you can’t swim in the water” but growing up in the Midwest,

a: I’m used to things being COLD, and
b: access to the ocean is such a novelty that it’s still a pinch-me moment every time we get to go (and it’s just 75 minutes away!)

What did you learn last month? Here’s what I’ve been learning about:

  1. PRIORITY & TASK MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE: The launch strategist I hired recommended I try ClickUp for prioritization and task management and so I’m knee-deep in ClickUp University, excitedly learning the world of project management software. I’m seeing the value of moving away from my corporate ways of managing everything with spreadsheets and moving towards a more visual, nimble, project management tool like ClickUp.

  2. I’M IN CHARGE OF MY HAPPINESS: I tend to preach that there’s a teacher out there for everyone: someone who teaches the way we need to learn and speaks the way our ears hear. I watched a video of Reese Witherspoon talking about the best advice her mother gave her: “happiness is a gift you give yourself every day” I’ve heard advice like that before, but it never landed for me until I heard her say it. Having that mantra loop in my head has been very helpful this past month… a lens, if you will, for decision making.

  3. INSTAGRAM ADVERTISING: It’s always been my plan to build a course, run ads to build a list and then sell it.  Well, the course has been built for 2 years; it would appear it's high time I do step 2 and build the list.  I’ve nervously decided to jump (back) into the pool of Instagram advertising (I’ve failed a few times in the past) and so I’ve been learning from Frank Kern, who is my favorite human to learn ad buying from.  He epitomizes the “teaches the way I learn and speaks the way my ears hear” when it comes to ads.  I’m grateful for him.

What are you tackling this month?

Here’s what’s on my docket:

  1. PREPPING FOR A CLIENT EVENT: I’m preparing for a multi-day virtual product launch event next month. I’m looking forward to it! It’ll be in a studio with a small in-person audience and a larger virtual audience.

  2. ESTABLISHING A PROCESS: I’m transitioning into ClickUp to manage my podcast show flow and content rhythm tasks. Every piece of my weekly content rhythm is a commitment to you and everyone else in Linchpin Nation, and yes, it feels like it’s taking a lot of time to implement, but I know it’s worth it in the long run.

  3. FUNNEL BUILDING: I’m writing the email funnel I’ll use with the social media ad campaign I’m starting.

And there you have it, my May update for you. Just thought I’d share and keep in contact.

I hope this note finds you and your loved ones happy, healthy, and loving Spring!

Make it an outstanding rest of the month, Sarah!
