I eat the same thing for breakfast.
Everyday.
Yes, that makes me sound incredibly boring.
Yes, that makes me sound incredibly disciplined.
But not really.
I do it because it’s easy.
I do it because it’s healthy.
And maybe best of all, I do it because I don’t have to think about it. The less I have to think about, the better.
I can get more work minutes in when I clear the clutter in the spaces around my work blocks.

Once my husband started working from home, just like I do, I started making them for him too. I can have breakfast made and cleaned up for both of us in 15 minutes. I love that.
So what’s in it?
5 oz. spinach or kale or a mix of the two*
1 cup of frozen blueberries*
2 T chia seeds
2 T flax seed meal
2 T hemp seeds
1/2 banana (for sweetness - optional)
1 1/2 cups spring water or coconut water
Easy peasy, right?
NOTES:
*Put the spinach/kale in first so things don’t get stuck in the blender.
**It’s important the blueberries are frozen so the smoothie is cold. This smoothie is no good warm.
***Wash the blender immediately. Before you drink your smoothie. It’s too hard to wash it after everything is stuck on.
I’d encourage you to start this daily practice. I’d hazard a guess you’ll love the simplicity and start craving a green smoothie each day. It’ll likely also have a sweet side affect of reducing your cravings for sugar. When your intake of green stuff goes up, your desire for sugary stuff naturally goes down.
Before you run off and try this at home, you have to pinky swear (My kiddo says it’s a legit formal agreement) that you’ll use a Vitamix or Blendtec blender. I use this one. Yes, it is wicked expensive. No, this isn’t an ad. Here’s the thing, you’re making something that’s going to taste like you’re eating the front lawn, and if you use a sub-par blender that can’t pulverize this stuff, it will come out all chunky and that doesn’t help the taste one bit.
